NHRC rejects BSF authority’s report, awards Rs 6.5 lakhs compensation to victims, 8 January 2010

In its latest order, the National Human Rights Commission rejected the findings of the General Security Force Court of the Border Security Force and ordered the Ministry of Home Affairs to pay compensation of Rs 6.5 lakhs to the next of kin of the deceased, Masud Rana Sarkar and Rs 50,000 each to those injured in the assault by the BSF personnel in South Dinajpur district in West Bengal on 5 March 2007.
